I would like to know about going to nursing school...?
I'm currently in China and have decided that when i get back to the states i would like to go to nursing school. It has taken me a long time to decide what i actually want to do with my life, so i was just curious about a few things. How difficult is nursing school? What is the best way to figure out what kind of nurse to be? How many years is nursing school? I would just like some info from anyone who can help me get a little bit of an understanding as to what this will require. Thanks to anyone who can answer my questions and give me a little insight!!!!

Nurses are fantastic, so many of them give up so much, solely so that they can look after for other peeps. In the box below is a site I uncovered with plenty of info about nursing - and plenty of extra jobs too.

You should go,it's a great career choice.I was an LPN and it took 11/2 years. If you're going to do it go for for R.N.program.A.D. being the fastest to complete.about 2 years after getting your prerequisites out of the way.Get in a hospital that will pay for your continuing education and get your B.S.degree and after that your Masters. You're going to love nursing,I promise.Nurses will always be in demand.Good luck!

Why don't we outsource MORE jobs, if it would help American companies be more effective
Why don't we outsource MORE jobs, if it would help American companies be more effective?
It would lower the price cost of things. Imagine if companies outsourced all jobs that can be done in China or elsewhere for a fraction of the cost (there are millions of people who speak English outside of America) and professional jobs, like nursing, could be done by H1B1 visas (foreign people who have a college degree and come in temporarily and then get switched with a new set of people). In the long run, isn't this what's best?

Let's ask Bill Clinton - he started this whole mess........

No, it would be far better to overhaul the tax code, eliminate most deductions and lower rates. Tort and regulatory reform would improve the business climate and jobs might actually return.

Your trying to think like a Conservative, and failed.

You're right, America should rot in its crappy paying jobs, and extremely few good paying jobs. Oh wait, that just sounds stupid.

Then what are Americans going to do for jobs? How will we pay our bills? Have you bought gas recently? Have you bought groceries recently and tried to feed a family? If the jobs go away, we will turn into a Third World county that is essentially a welfare state. I'm a college graduate who recently had to take a job at McDonald's. I refuse to go on the government rolls for food stamps, etc. So, I just suck it up and work at whatever I can get while I continue to look for something that makes some kind of sense. What do the recent college graduates do who are up to their necks in student loans? At least mine have been paid off. Basically, you are telling us that our education and skills are worthless. What's the point of struggling to get an education? Why bother to tell today's kids to go to college? Right now, there are people who have worked, scrimped and sacrificed to become an educated part of the workforce and they have no place to go except Starbucks, McDonald's or other low paying jobs and they can't support themselves let alone a family. Do we just line up at the welfare office? Call an 800 number for customer service and guess what you get? We can't even get those jobs unless we want to move to India or the Philippines. Maybe you have discretionary income in this economy, but there are those of us who do not. We are willing to work, but being willing does nothing for you if there is no place to go to work.

The later episodes had the nurse interviews in them. Towards the end of the series they intercut real nurse footage in with what was happening in the storyline. Unfortunately, because of all the late 60's music that was used in the series, there have been problems in getting a DVD release. However, on Amazon, I did find a dvd of "Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany" - that may have some of what was in the series. Here's the link http://www.amazon.com/Vietnam-Nurses-Dana-Delany/dp/B000IMV3XS/ref=pd_bbs_6?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1201286738&sr=8-6

i am really confused in this indemand nursing thing
i am really confused in this indemand nursing thing
is it really indemand?? or we are just people despirate to go in States without knowing the truth... i am a RN for 4 years who already passed nclex and other requirement.. my question is. why they keep taking nursing course?? do they don't know that if POSSIBLE THEY LIFT RETROGRESSION is only 40 ooo per year, and that's not enough for possible 100 000 nurses in philippines, and 200 000 in india and same amount in china.. and don't forget koream, who seeking to go in states, and many american already taking nursing courses. i think american must say something due to some pilipino are keep taking nursing course, due to lack of information.. saudi and other country also seeking for moderate amount of nurses, not a thousands of nurses... can you plss give a possible answer that convinced me indemand?? and may i know do they need 500 000 nurses?? in united states?? and why they give 100 000 visa per year. lol... the problem is 40 000 a year only for all asia.. why not 40 000 only philippines, and same 40 000 for india

In the United States, the average age of a typical working RN is in her 50s --- therefore will be retiring within a short length of time. At the same time, the baby boomer population is just getting to the start of retirement age --- therefore as the Baby boomers retire and age, they are going to require more health care and just at a time that the nursing population will decrease. Therefore, nurses are greatly in demand in the U.S. We need to start filling all those jobs that will soon become vacant and care for all the people who will soon need a ton of healthcare. Hope that's what you were asking (?)
