What was the name of that old play on live TV so many years ago, that told a story of an old grand dad that?
was given a wooden plate to eat from, less he drop and break the china? He was not treated mean but not with any great respect that he deserved. Then later on ( I believe it was a live play on "Playhouse Theater") he was moved to a nursing home for the son's convenience, and then at the very end line the granddaughter who loved her old grandfather was asked why she is keeping his old wooden diner plate, replied that "someday Dad, you will need it" and that hit the dad right where it hurts Maybe it is a good thing that old people tend to forget a lot, and forgive a lot also!

Is this what we've Learned in Past Few Years: Entitlements are Too Big; We Kill Few Enemies with $1 Trillion,
... and America does NOT have a birthright to cheap oil? Should Russia and China be dancing as America looks at a brink? America is starting to feel like Russia did about 30 years ago --- everyone wants "free" (healthcare in today's America) while few are willing to study hard or work hard to earn it. Everyone seems to want the Government to spend $400,000 to keep grandma in a nursing home for a few years while no one wants to pay the bill. Those are great idea. But, Americans seem to have little desire to do the work needed to PAY for it.

Well we have "free" highways that we all pay for at the pump. Painless isn't it? National health care would be painless too. How many times has your mother told you not to go over to the rich kids neighborhood? They don't let you play because they like you. They let you play with them because they can use you. Quit being their patsy
2 :
Nothing is "free." If only the idealistic liberals could learn that.
3 :
whats the point? all the good jobs are being outsourced or giving to legal immigrants.
4 :
I don't do this one for points. That point cannot be more evident when I say tommy... your a moron. Americans invented big spending. The reason we want free health care is because countries like Australia and Canada have free health care. In fact, Iraq had free health care under Saddam. So, is it so wrong for Americans to think their healthcare should be free. Since we are the richest biggest dog in the yard? Maybe we don't have a birthright to cheap oil but we have the military to make sure you don't either. I personally would rather find an alternative now, but with a military as strong as Americas do you really see the American people giving up their cars when they can just take the oil? Yes we have spent a lot on the war in Iraq. But it proves one thing. Not even the people in the middle east are stupid enough to fight the Super Power on a conventional battlefield.... not even for their religion. America may turn out to be like ancient Rome.... but not today comrade. Thumbs down??? What you disagree with Americas undeniable power or the obvious question that if Saddam can give free health care why can't American?

Why are some political parties and their followers like this

Why are some political parties and their followers like this?
Okay, I am not going to name the political party since they are known for reporting people who disagree with them. Anywho. I am a 30 year old man with two bachelors degrees, one in Nursing and the other in Health Administration and Policy, and a Masters degree in Anesthiology (sorry I still cant spell that word). I started college when I was 17 years old and was completely finished with everything by the time I was 25. I am now an Anaesthiologist working with one of the best cosmetic surgeons in the Washington DC area. I make $250,000 a year. I am also a married man since I was 24 and the proud father of 2 sets of twins. My wife is a private teacher for Autistic children and makes $75 an hour. We are both living the life of our dreams. Our childrens college is already pre-paid, our house will be paid off next year. We just feel so blessed. This summer my wife and I took our kids on a Disney world tour. We went to Disney in Florida, California, China, and France. We were both able to take a month off of work to make sure our kids have the time of their lives and to bring our family closer together. Now my problem is is that thereare certain people running for president and his followers who want to take that away from me and my family. They feel that even though I work hard for my money and where I am that I shouldn't have it. They feel I should be happy with $80000 a year and the rest should be given to the poor. They see vacations like the one my family and I took and say we should be happy with just going to Six Flags. Why do these people feel this way? Why do they feel that the wealthy should suffer for the poor? Why do they feel that I should give up most of my income in federal taxes so less educated people can live better lives? Can anyone explain this logic? please. Um. Do you know how many doctors don't spell correctly? A lot.

I'm a democrat fighting socialism in my own party. The attitude is: "You owe us. You are rich, you have money, we need money, it would help us, so you owe us". It's socialistic theft. And if it happens, and you move to another country, and we lose you and those who produce goods/services/jobs and our standard of living goes down, we'll have the state to take care of us. And they'll get the money from those who make 80,000 dollars a year...until they leave, too. Socialism is the most dangerous threat of our time, not terrorism.

Are you sure you have a Masters in Anesthesiology? I would expext my Anesthesiologist to be able to spell his/her occupation. Democrat Librarian

I own my business as a pain therapist , I provide a single family income for four household members. Being a single parent who does not make allot I have been pressured by schools and communities to make myself part of the welfare system.I flatly refuse to be part of a system that will pull this country into the ground .I do not see why anything I make should go into the pocket of someone else who is doing nothing to try to even make a life for themselves. It makes me sick that people sit around an whine about it I cant do this or I cant do that if they spent half the energy working as they do complaining they would have nothing to complain about ,I see your point 100% and this year because of over existed state and federal welfare systems I got taxed to the point I had almost a zero income. So it just isn't on the part of people who make really excelent money . It is every working tax payer. I found out anybody working with the systems get huge revinues by getting people on them , that is how the get payed.Rediculas . Simple as this.. work for it or shut the hell up , people have made their lives better because they know they have to . I don't care what was done to your race in the past truth of the matter is , nobody still alive was moved out by a confederate solders, nobody still alive has been sold off to a slave trade, nobody still alive lost their land to the defeat of Santa Anna or the French so suck it up . We are all living in the same times no. Nobody "owes" anybody anything.PERIOD You live in the land of opportunity in the greatest country in the world get off your dead bottom side and put your energy into making your life better, that's my answer. I worked for it ,I payed my taxes , I deserve whatever bennifits I want to give myself within my budget .

Some people live on 900 Dollars and 75 Cents a month. Welfare Types.

The USA. The country in the industrialised world with one of the highest death rate for kids aged under five. Despite spending more money on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/629/629/7436221.stm The reason some parties are like this, is that they want to help American children, not curse them with death rates higher than Cuba.

20-23 Units first quarter of college. too much

20-23 Units first quarter of college. too much?
I'm trying to figure out my schudule for my first quarter of college. I'm majoring in Nursing Minoring in Political Sciences (don't ask, too long to explain why) and i also want to learn Spanish so far im thinking of taking 7 classes (and one lab) 5 3unit courses and 2 2unit courses. but i might not take one of them if its too much i want to take: Pol Sci 303-Third World Politics (elective for minor) Pol Sci 220-Intor to Pol. Theorgy (core class for minor BIOL 104-Intro to Bio (pre req for major) Spanish 1--(spanish class) Eng 100-Intro to Reading Comp and Writing--(general ed) Pol Sci 210-Intro to US Pol (core course for minor)--MAYBE PSCI 330--Pol. Regimes of China and South Asia--(elective for minor) do you think this is too much to chew? my actual schedule would be too overwhelming. I would have either 3,4, or 5 classes a day spaced out pretty well.my earliest class would be 8:00 3 times a week and my latest class would be until 6 2times a week. PLEASE HELP.

Too much. You're not accounting for how much time it would actually take you to study for all of these classes. Start off slow. Take 15 credits. If you can handle that, then add more. No advisor in their right mind would let you sign up for a schedule like this anyway.
2 :
so do you want to get good grades? does that matter to you or is a C average OK? are you really smart so you only have to spend 10 minutes a day studying your notes and preparing for your next class? Is this your normal class load? what is your GPA now? have you ever gotten any grade under a B? are you taking your medication?

Political Science major here, so you don't need to explain to me the minor! My advice would be to drop one of the Pol Sci courses since it is only for a minor. At my school, a minor is typically only 24-32 units, and such a schedule would fill almost half of these minor requirements in one semester. I would suggest spacing the classes for your minor out a bit. I've taken a class similar to your PSCI 330 class and found it to be very interesting, but also very study-intensive. There's a lot of history that plays an important role in the governmental structure of the regions and a lot of things to remember come exam time. Maybe consider dropping this course for this semester and taking it next fall. I've found that Political Science classes don't require much homework, but final grades are usually decided on about 3 exams and one paper, meaning that finding study time can be difficult a few times a semester, though this could vary by college. Hope this helps, and good luck.

This will be your very first term in college? Yes, it's too much. Average number of units most full-time students take is 16 units. Actually, most colleges won't even let you take more than 18 units at a time without permission. Here are some lessons and mistaken freshmen make: Number 1 lesson to learn is never take an 8am class unless you have to. Number 2 is don't forget to schedule time between classes especially if this is a large campus and classes are on opposite ends of campus. Number 3 is don't forget to schedule in a lunch time. Most professors do not appreciate students eating in class.

Yes it's way too much, especially for your first semester, unless you plan on giving up sleeping altogether. I don't think any seniors would dare to take that many. The average full time student takes about 14-16 credits a semester, and besides, as another poster stated, most colleges won't allow you to take more than 18 or 19 credits at a time. Here's what I suggest: Forget about your political science minor for the time being. You have plenty of time to worry about that later. Most minors only require about 18-21 credits, while majors typically require 40. As a freshman, you should be concerned mainly with general education courses and introductory or prerequisite courses for your major. Wait until sophmore year to begin taking classes for your minor, unless one of the political science classes double-counts as both a general education course and for your minor, in which you can go ahead and take it freshman year if you want to. Also, as a freshman you shouldn't be taking 300 level classes. The higher the number, the more difficult the class is supposed to be. As a freshman, all of your classes should be in the 100 level or the low 200s. Don't take 300 classes until at least your sophmore year, and only then if you feel you can handle it and don't take too many. Most of your 300 to 400 level classes should wait until you're a junior. Plus, freshmen are usually the last to register for classes, so those 300 level classes could possibly be full by the time you register. They will most likely be offered again at a later time. I suggest taking: Bio 104, Spanish, Eng 100, and one (or two, depending on your total number of credit hours) other gen eds. (I'm assuming the lab is required for the Bio class). Your total should be about 14-16 credits. Don't take any more than 16 credits during your first year, because college courses require a lot more outside of class work than high school courses, plus it will probably take you a semester or two to adjust to the increased difficulty of college level classes.
