look up phone book for care homes in the area and phone them up and speak to Matron or manager and ask about vacancies. Shouldn't be a problem as these homes are always looking for staff.

The facility that hires you will train you on the job. They will teach you everything you need to know about their hospital. Good luck!
2 :
Most places that hire you will train you for 4-6 weeks to make sure that you know how to use all of the equipment correctly. You usually follow someone for a few weeks and then they follow you to make sure that you are doing things properly. In any case they do not just leave you to fend for youself. Hope this helps.

Anyone know of this Chinese movie

Anyone know of this Chinese movie?
I remember watching this movie while on a bus in China. I remember... a nurse. A doctor is harsh to her but he also likes her. She meets a man who limps or has some sort of leg problems. She falls in love with the limp man and has a child but they encounter troubles in their marriage.

This has been going on in American over the last 100 years. This should be of your concern. Worry about your country first then about your neighbors. America's elderly are being screwed in nursery homes as we speak. What is your opinion on that?

What's so special about an engineer brought in from India or China that we have to hire him over an American

What's so special about an engineer brought in from India or China that we have to hire him over an American?
Hundreds of thousands of 'temporary' foreign workers come into the United States on work visas. Now, it's great that they have high skills and all, and I have no doubt they contribute well. But where's the proof that the United States has run out of engineers? Where's the proof that Americans don't want to study nursing or medicine? Last time I checked, medical school admissions rates were around 10% here! Shouldn't coming and working in America be a privilege that comes AFTER US citizens are shown to be unable to do the job, rather than a right?

An engineer from India or China probably aced all their engineering classes at UNM or the U of A anyway... but they got scholarships our own countrymen couldn't get.
3 :
They probably don't ask for as much as money as would an American engineer. That's capitalism at work.
4 :
they are cheaper simples oh and the majority of them buy their degrees on the net, i have the pleasure of working with a load of the dumb ass mofo's i wouldn't pay them in chocolate buttons the pass rate for degrees in malasia is 30% and you get 10% for spelling your name right
5 :
Hehe you say that...but everywhere i look in India i see an engineer...Why are there so many of them?!! its also sad to know that our country's resource is running off to your country. If anything it is brain drain. However,it is sad that american engineers aren't getting much work. hopefully your new 'nobel' winning (i don't even know why he got that!) president changes stuff for you. cheers. ;) and yes they are pretty cheaper, because well lets face it...our countries are in a worse economic condition... than yours. ;)

doesn't civil rights law mandate the foreigner is hired special? nothing. 1 more vote for the dems

They will work for cheap wages.
9 :
We have a similar situation here in the UK. I only speak from experience here in the Construction industry. I hate to say this, but as an employer,I have found that foreign workers have a superior work attitude. They are more reliable and take less time off through sickness, A lot of time is lost here, due to the vast amounts of alcohol and illegal drugs consumed by British workers, many of them thing it perfectly acceptable to come to work with "hang-overs",not realising that their efficiency and safety are compromised. I have found that very few of the temporary workers have this attitude. I always try to give work to home grown workers,my attitude costs me a great deal of time and money, The truth is,if British workers had the"foreign" attitude,we could be a great producing nation once again. I spend a lot of time in the USA,from what I have seen, you seem to have the same social problems as us,perhaps the American employers have come to the same conclusion as me.
10 :
All the parts are made in china or india so the firms want to hire people that can read the manuals.
11 :
Engineers from India and China are willing to work for lesser money. The H-1B visa program allows US Companies to tap into talented people from other countries but it also is being abused by companies who would rather pay someone with an H-1B visa because they can pay them cheaper wages. There really isn't a shortage of Engineers in the US. Most are unemployed or working in another field. There will eventually be a shortage of engineers since US Citizens realize that the field of engineering can be outsourced to other countries and they cannot compete against H-1B applicants for jobs in the USA. This will continue to get worse when the limit on the amount of H-1B visas is lifted.
12 :
I think that it's because most engineering students these days are foreign students. It's not a bad thing to allow foreign students into our universities; when smart people from other countries decide to immigrate to the USA it has the effect of making our population more educated and smart overall. Every country wants highly educated, talented, and intelligent immigrants, it's always the uneducated people that each nation wants to prevent coming into its borders. I think what used to happen is that there were fewer foreign students, and many of those foreign students decided to become Americans. So, companies were more frequently hiring American citizens. Now there are many more foreign students, for one thing, and I also think that fewer of them decide to actually become Americans. They may want to work in the USA, but they want to retain their original nationality and aim to go back to their home country. If the majority of engineering students are foreign students, and the majority of them go back home, then the majority of US trained engineers in each graduating class is non-American and probably based abroad. So, I think that in order to really get the same size hiring pool as they've always had, companies are forced to look more and more in other countries. I was a physics and math major in college, so I knew quite a few engineering students (we had some classes in common). I don't know a single one of them who is an American citizen who is unemployed. Of course, it's not a statistical sample, but I think that any American citizen who is a decent engineer can find a job. I'm talking about the younger generation here. For older engineers, it may be more difficult to find a job for entirely different reasons. I don't know exactly why so many students in science, math and engineering are foreign. I have an idea based on my own experience of applying to physics grad school: these students (especially students from Eastern Europe and Asia) have insanely high test scores and really good grades. Also, from my experience in the physics field, they as a group have a much better understanding of their subject than American students (again, as a group). It is really tough competition to get into a school when you're up against students like that, and it's tough to compete for jobs against people that qualified. American students are often better in other ways, in terms of creativity and the ability to work independently, but those traits don't show up so well on paper. Basically, our science and math education at the high school and middle school level is pretty crappy comparatively, and I think that this whole issue is really rooted in that fact. The lack of education at a young age hinders us later in the form of college (or grad school) admissions, and when it comes to finding a job. BTW, I don't know if this still happens (I think it does), but when my dad graduated from an American university in the 70s and was looking for a job afterwards, they had to advertise it publicly for a certain amount of time before they could give it to a non-American citizen.

What is the meaning of this poem by Sylivia Plath

What is the meaning of this poem by Sylivia Plath?
A Life Touch it: it won't shrink like an eyeball, This egg-shaped bailiwick, clear as a tear. Here's yesterday, last year --- Palm-spear and lily distinct as flora in the vast Windless threadwork of a tapestry. Flick the glass with your fingernail: It will ping like a Chinese chime in the slightest air stir Though nobody in there looks up or bothers to answer. The inhabitants are light as cork, Every one of them permanently busy. At their feet, the sea waves bow in single file. Never trespassing in bad temper: Stalling in midair, Short-reined, pawing like parade ground horses. Overhead, the clouds sit tasseled and fancy As Victorian cushions. This family Of valentine faces might please a collector: They ring true, like good china. Elsewhere the landscape is more frank. The light falls without letup, blindingly. A woman is dragging her shadow in a circle About a bald hospital saucer. It resembles the moon, or a sheet of blank paper And appears to have suffered a sort of private blitzkrieg. She lives quietly With no attachments, like a fetus in a bottle, The obsolete house, the sea, flattened to a picture She has one too many dimensions to enter. Grief and anger, exorcised, Leave her alone now. The future is a grey seagull Tattling in its cat-voice of departure. Age and terror, like nurses, attend her, And a drowned man, complaining of the great cold, Crawls up out of the sea.

I think the usual reading of this poem is that Plath is describing her experience in a hospital. The first part is probably describing pictures behind glass (note "flattened to a picture" later on), or possibly some other sort of figurative object like a snow globe, and towards the end she starts describing her own experience. I'm not sure I'd ascribe a particular meaning to it; rather I'd say it describes a sort of feeling, a bleakness. Passivity. Emptiness.

Whats the best adoption agency for Americans looking to adopt from China's waiting children's list

Whats the best adoption agency for Americans looking to adopt from China's waiting children's list?
I have always wanted to adopt a child when I finished college and after researching China's one child policy decided I would adopt a a child from the children's waiting list. I was wondering which agency is best for both single mother and couple adoptions. As of now I am single, but I want to get my PhD in doctoral philosophy before starting a family and may or may not be married by then. (I plan on adopting 2 or 3 years after I have a steady job as a nurse practitioner) This is very important to me and any help would be extremal appreciated! Thanks :)

International adoption is always in flux. China's waiting child program is very good, and right now allows some single women who meet pretty strict requirements to adopt special needs or older children. But, international adoption programs change so much so quickly. If I were you, I'd just keep an eye on what's happening with the program, prepare yourself for adoptive parenting in general in the meantime, and get into specific agencies when the time is much closer. Good Luck!

Are there patient-doctor confidentiality rights when getting medical treatment in China

Are there patient-doctor confidentiality rights when getting medical treatment in China?
I am spending a few months in various spots throughout Asia this summer, and my parents forced me to come to Beijing, a city I am really not fond of at all, especially in the summer, to get medical treatment for a condition that I have, and the doctors here have absolutely no regard for my privacy. I'm not quite 18, so I am technically considered to be a minor in the US, but I thought the age of majority was different in China. In the US teens are granted a degree of privacy, and my doctor at home would never betray me by telling my parents things I told her in confidence. These doctors and nurses are total strangers to me, and I just answered their questions honestly and asked a few things relevant to my current situation, and I assumed they would respect my privacy, but they didn't at all. They told my parents everything. And I do mean everything from having a sinus infection and UTI, my weight, my sex life, and that I'm considering getting a tiny tattoo. I only asked about the tattoo because I wanted to make sure it was medically safe for me to get one now, but had I known they'd then mention it to my freaking mother I never would have told them. I'm not in some little makeshift hospital in a hut or anything. This hospital is world-class and actually nicer than the one at home in some ways, and all my treatment is covered by my health insurance, so I expected some conformity. It's affiliated with Duke University and Sloan Kettering in the US, plus several other leading hospitals or cancer institutions around the world, so it's very reputable and should have more standards of patient care. I went to a hospital in Shanghai the day after I arrived in China just for a check-up, and the doctors were really thoughtful and never even talked to my parents. They just emailed my doctor and gave her my stats, and that was that. I have to spend an entire week in Beijing getting treatment, and I don't trust my doctors at all now, and cannot stand them. Can I demand that they cease communication with my parents, or at least only tell them what is truly relevant to my medical condition?

You can answer your own question by asking yourself, "What laws govern how doctors do things in China?" Your answer is none. You don't have any privacy in China if they don't want you to. Why do you think millions of residents of other countries try to leave and get to democracies? Good luck with your parents poor little rich girl.

You can demand whatever you want - however I am not sure in China they have ANY obligation to honor "rights" -- from basic human rights, to a perceived right to medical privacy. It ain't the US of A ...

Should the Philippines Look to china instead of Glorifying the United States? Your Opinion

Should the Philippines Look to china instead of Glorifying the United States? Your Opinion?
Upon studying Philippine history, learning the language, and getting involved with the culture… Many questions come to mind. First we know Spain colonized the Philippines, imposed their culture, religion, language, & ways of living. It’s also documented that the USA constructed a MOCK battle with Spain to make it seem the USA were liberators, when they actually Bought the Philippines for $20000,000. Aside from the fact that the northern Philippines still continue to practice the religion of their first colonizers (Christianity), their writing system (Alibata, AKA: Baybayin) as well as their right for self determination were all dissolved. With their culture already crippled, the USA put it’s foot in the door again, and wanted (at one point in time) to make the PI another state in the union. Sure it could be argued that the USA â€Å“liberated” the PI from the JAPANESE a while back. And yet I’m surprised Filipinos don’t feel a sense of betrayal at how the USA then turned their attention to JAPAN. The usa helped changed the government in JAPAN, helped to set up massive trade and industry…all the while leaving the PI in a 3rd world condition. Also the USA got itself involved with Mindanao and it argument for self determination. Leaving all my prejudices aside from Muslim, Islam VS Christianity, couldn’t this be considered a Civil war that must be fought to unify the country in an eventual compromise? Many great nations of today (USA included) had to go through their own Civil war that eventually led to unification of a sort. After unification, a self determined government usually arises. The current Philippine government was still created and imposed by the United States. A republic normally works great for western countries, but for the USA to transplant it’s own way of doing things to a country which hasn’t been given the chance to come up with it own way of government, or self determination be constructive? I watch TFC religiously (it helps with my language learning) And see Tagalog being polluted with massive amounts of English and Spanish words, as if it’s the Chic thing to do. I constantly see homage being paid to the USA left and right, even going so far as to view â€Å“whiter skinned Filipinos” as being beautiful, when this doesn’t represent most of the population at large. Also, the medical industry seems to be a popular pursuit among educated Filipinos. The ones that emigrate here aspire to be a nurse, or some other part of the American medical industry (not all, but there are many). We could also see this another way…. Why is taking care of an Aging USA population held in so high esteem? It isn’t common practice anymore in the US for white families to have their parents move in with them until they are ready to pass on. Therefore how can catering to a cultural vice in American society be viewed as honorable? And does this distract from pursuing self determination in the Philippines for looking up to a culture that keeps them in a 3rd world position? The Philippines is a very strategic piece of land in Asia, and serves well as a permanent land base for military might (should the USA need it). Is the Philippines being USED in this respect? Would the Philippine government in its current form collapse without USA help? This all leads me back to the question. Would the Philippines have a better deal if they looked to china for economic help and industrialization more so than the USA? I know my opinion is unorthodox, but it’s not set in stone. I’m willing and open for other points of view on this. So fire away! To Ready Set Grow: Yes I can understand your statement, But I'm looking as to cutural Influence a little more so. Glorification of the USA & Lifestyle, VS. Adopting something with more Asian influence. Doesn't have to be China, there are others in the area. To Aquarius: You clearly have done your research, which is very respectable! In Addition: One other concern of mine has to do with the recent generation (my generation) of Filipinos, losing their roots. With my ongoing attendance in Tagalog language classes: I have noticed (with me being the only white person in the class) that many who attend the class are Pilipino-Americans wanting to learn a language that was denied them. In my personal experience it seems as though more and more recent immigrants are deciding not to pass down the culture and language (which I understand isn’t always Tagalog) to their American born children. In talking with my classmates, it seems as though they grow up here, become race aware (as we all do growing up) and find that: although they are English speaking, and very much American acting in their demeanor… a cultural rift develops. This rift keeps them from communicating efficiently with grandparents, and older generation of Filipinos. They might climb the corporate ladder to find that although they were raised American; they are still treated a bit differently based on their ethnicity. Being detached from their origins, there is not much of a community they can feel fully apart of . This â€Å“community” is what gives them anecdotes, advice, and support from â€Å“their own” who have been through this â€Å“subtle form of discrimination” before. I’ve always been curious about this social dynamic in the United States. For instance, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, & Indian immigrants, with their children all have a higher percentage of retaining their home culture in some form than do Pilipino. This can be seen in cultural unity through Chinatowns, Indian plazas, Vietnamese towns (or little Saigons) , Japan Towns, and many Mexican (Spanish speaking) communities. I’m tempted to attribute this problem to the â€Å“Glorific I’m tempted to attribute this problem to the â€Å“Glorification of the US” being seen as â€Å“something superior”. I have been told about something called a â€Å“CRAB MENTAILY”? Can anyone elaborate on this? I was in a bank one day. There was an older Pinay wanting to cash her check. Being Pinay, she went to the teller who obviously looked Pinay as well. Frustration set in as the older woman only knew Tagalog, and not very much english. After a few minutes of this I steped in to offer some help. I found myself translating Tagalog from one Pinay to another who knew none. I've never been in a situation like this before, but it did feel a little odd. Another Pilipino woman had watched me from a far, and proceded to tell me: WOW! You know more Tagalog than my daughter!. I wanted to say (but i didn't) "Then Why didn't you Teach her?". This experience made me wonder about this subject as well. Again Open to Opinion :) To Greevy Thom: I think you’re absolutely correct. However I've read books by a few Filipinos who would argue that the Marcos Regime was only successful due in part of financial support from the USA, do you think there is any truth to this? To Little Big Boss: Sorry, I should have been a little more specific in my definition of USA "involvement" in the Mindanao Conflict. Since this is more than just a conflict of Ideologies and succession has been mentioned by different groups, this can be considered "civil war like" . And by involvement I mean: TRAINING & SUPPLYING ARMS.

It should be "No China, No US Policy" for Philippines. Having these two interfering our business and economy can lead us to nothing. They get much, we got nothing! It is better to be a self-reliant nation than to deal with these "sharks"!
2 :
china already owns the philippines. duh!

Your observations are very astute. And, I agree with much of your assessment. From the economic perspective, Chinese always do much better in the Philippines economy and are far better supported by the Filipino than Americans who attempt business ventures or entrepreneurship in Philippines. I think that more Asian influence in society over the past 100 years or so would have brought about less corruption and more esprit de corps among the people in today's Philippines. I'm not so sure there is any strategic geographic advantage any more with the modernization of military forces around the world.

i think that looking to other countries for economic help and industrialization can both be helpful and a hindrance. getting technological help and ideas can be helpful but if it is taken/given too quickly without having to put any home effort there will be a lack of natural innovation within the country as well as no generation of talent or ability, thereby making the country even more dependent upon outside influences. as for whether looking to the US or China would be better, that is a hard question to answer. China does have a stronger economy right now and a better forecast, but consider that it's a communist nation that doesn't float its currency and is not known for its allowance for free trade. when considering it, that means getting economic aid would not be ideal because it means that it is difficult, if not impossible, to know what the true strength of the economy of China is and if it is in any danger. also, the currency has no real value compared against other currencies because of the loose restrictions in country; they print money whenever they want and do not necessarily have the ability to back that currency with gold or other hard backings. as for the lack of free trade, it would be difficult to ensure that trade agreements would be equitable or enforceable. furthermore, China has many laws made to protect their own industries, they make it exceptionally difficult for external companies to compete in its economy, many times levying heavy tariffs and taxes to discourage competition. The US has a poorer economy currently and a less favorable forecast, but it has an open economy and does have a better record of helping other nations. while the US does protect some of its industries, the taxes, tariffs, and regulations regarding trade and economic exchange do not hamper nearly as much as China's. furthermore, the practices followed in the US are more equitable to those of the EU and other trading partners, which would allow the PI to be able to bring its own standards to those of the majority of trading partners. also consider that the US traditionally has a higher rate of FDI (foreign direct investment) than China, which means that companies in the US are more likely to invest money, resources, technology, etc in other countries that are developing. Personally, i think it's a shame that the Philippines is becoming so Americanized and is thereby losing the culture of the land. while I do agree that learning english is important due to its international use, bastardizing Filipino is not the way to do it; some concepts are only applicable in the native tongue. however, westernization is unavoidable due to the current trend of globalization and interconnectivity of the world as a whole. but i think that Filipinos have to find the medium between being open to outside cultures and keeping their own identity. However, it does seem, and i hope that you don't take offense to this statement, that you are making the Philippines out to be a victim of circumstance and to outside influences. part of it is that the Philippines has been in the wrong place in history, considering its geographical importance and what little has been done to improve it. however, consider that such things can only happen two ways. in many cases, corruption and other things like it have occurred when outside help has come in trying to offer industrial and economic assistance. therefore, such a history would be discouraging for any other nations in terms of coming in and trying to give aid or assistance. furthermore, in respect to japan, the reason the US helped rebuild the infrastructure to quickly is due to the willingness of the Japanese government to allow the help to enter and be effective. unlike the Philippines, when the war was over, Japan did not keep fighting; instead they opened the doors and rebuilt. however, the Philippines did not stop fighting, they kept on attacking American forces, thereby discouraging any rebuilding efforts. personally, i think that if diplomatic solutions could have been reached, the Philippines would have benefited to the US foreign activity after World War 2; especially considering at that time the Philippines were still a territory of the US (depending on what you believe of the propaganda about the intentions of the US in the Philippines, that will determine what you believe about it, but such a discussion would be very lengthy and add to this already long answer). as for civil war being helpful for self-determination within a country, it's not necessarily true. look at somalia and yugoslavia as references. with modern weapons, can you imagine the horrors and atrocities that would visited upon the Philippines if the two sides were allowed to go at it without interference? the results would be terrible (and that's an understatement). with such weaponry the civilian casualties would be ridiculous and so little would be left of the country for the victors. as for why Filipinos in the US become nurses, it's mostly for job security. that industry is secure, and for Filipinos that have come across, sacrificing all that they have for the chance to be in the US, having a job becomes all the more important. that's also why Filipino parents encourage entering that field because that means that their children will be employed. i don't think it's because it's seen as honorable to take care of American elderly, but instead as a secure investment into their own future more than anything else. i do think that it's bad that doctors in the Philippines are leaving to be nurses in the US, but it's mostly because US hospitals will not take Philippine doctor credentials, and that's because the medical curriculum in the Philippines is not as stringent or as good as the one in the US; the amount of study and time put in for an American doctor is far greater than that of one for a Filipino doctor. so until the two are equitable, such a case will always be there. typically, if the land is being given over for military use, there is some sort of monetary exchange for that, as well as some sort of joint defense or military treaty. therefore, allowing the US to use the land would ensure the Philippines a strong ally and a deterrent to another hostile outside force from taking military actions considering the situation there. i hope that i do not come across completely biased, but i am Filipino-American and have done some studying about this myself and these are the conclusions that i have come to. but i'm always open to new ideas and trains of thought

The Philippines should look to the Philippines so that it can glorify itself. That way glorifying another nation would be out of the question. Keep in mind that after WWII China was a completely destroyed and devastated nation and they built themselves up from nothing to silently and humbly become one of the worlds most powerful nations on earth. They did not receive help from another nation to do this. If China did it then why can't the Philippines do it?
8 :
I think that for the Philippines to move forward, it should glorify neither USA nor China. We should be glorifying our resolve and determination as a people to move forward and fulfill our aspirations for a better nation, independent from all foreign influences. Some people blame the Filipinos themselves for the lingering problems of massive poverty. I think that it is not the population, but their leaders who failed in their promises of eradicating corruption and making the economy grow - by becoming problems themselves. We need nation builders, not nation wreckers. Because of the lack of jobs a lot of our best Filipino nation builders decides to work overseas as OFWs, and some decides to abandon the country altogether and immigrate to other countries like USA. As a nation, we need to change. We should use Obama's line: YES WE CAN, and continue to dream that someday, like the blacks in America, we will be vindicated and become a developed nation at last, just like what an American think tank predicted before the disastrous Marcos regime took over.
9 :
i suggest we look not to any other country, nor waste our brain energy thinking what to do to better the situation in our own country. one step at a time. start with the most basic form of "government" that we ourselves can control, our homes. look inside our homes, see what can be done, to better ourselves, to better our homes, to better our way of life...now. that'll be a good start. forget history. just dont forget/despise what/who we are.
10 :
I don't know where you get some of your information. China has set out to enslave us as Spain and the U.S. did in the past. We received compensation from Spain and the U.S. for years until Spain decided that the present form of government was using some of the money to step on human rights and stop their money. The U.S. still offers free medical care, dental care and even surgeries along with the millions of dollars they send us each year. As far as the Muslims go, the U.S. is only posted at towns that the Muslims have been driven out of or are in danger of them returning. They are not involved in the war in any way other than actually training our men how to fight properly. Also, the U.S. never forced their Democratic form of government on us, our president elect at that time, along with other newly elected officials opted to adopt the Democratic form which is pretty much a copy of the U.S. constitution. A lot of your statements do ring true, but the U.S. has no control over how our elected government spends the money for the most part, so they are not responsible for our corrupt government, we are. After all, who allows the vote buying and murder of our candidates? Us or the U.S.? Who votes these criminals into office, us or the U.S.? I heard once that a country gets the type of government it deserves. Maybe we are too greedy to vote properly and too immature for 1st world rights just now. Some day when our men can be men and stop all of this letting the women do all of their talking and work, maybe we can enjoy a decent and prosperous country too. Instead of all of this crying, why don't our men become like men and all stand up for what is right for a change. Don't blame anybody but yourself for your failures, it is Karma and you can only fight that by changing your ways. As far as the taking care of the old parents go, many Americans do have their parents move in so they can take care of them and do so until they become a medical burden and need round the clock nursing. The U.S. is full of qualified nursing homes for those who cannot be cared for at home. Here, they just seem to move the old folks out of their own homes and keep them in a chicken house or other such terrible structure to die while the children enjoy the home that Mom and Dad built. I have seen some take care of the elderly here, but that is the minority, not the majority.

we don't glorify any country,it is always the philippines first.

your intro is to long! no time to read, but just to tell ya! filipinos cannot look to china!! how can you look for a big bully country who thinks of faking everything in this world! and now not only faking many product! making product that is dangerous to life! (melamine in milk scare, plastic toys with lead, poison dog food and what else in the future), this nation and its people had no more etiquete and willing to kill everybody for profit (please dont tell me that its not true) that why many of them are millionare at the expense of now 1000+ children in china itself when they drink baby milk...and next is the world who buy their poisonous and worthless goods.
13 :
Chinese are all over the Philippines...
14 :
Your question is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long, but it is good. But, for all of your considerings, you have missed the two true underlying problems of the Philippines. It's not who to snuggle up with, or who did what, for what reason in the past. Or, any of the other stuff really, and i read your whole letter. The problem is this. Firstly, the Philippines has absolutely ZERO national unity. This is for several reasons. 1. The fact that there are 7,107 islands in this country. The sheer number of islands has helped to create many sub-cultures. 2. there are a hundred or more different dialects or languages in the country. There is not a single 1st world country on the planet that has more then just a few languages. The Philippines needs to have a common language nationwide, and it must be spoken by all the people. Just being taught it in school only to never use it in life is meaningless. 3. Corruption is soooo huge a problem, and has gone on for sooo long that most Filipinos don't even blink an eye over a major political scandal/scam/bribe. Filipino people have accepted this to be "acceptable" to them. 4. There is no one for Filipinos to look up to in govt. No Hero's to draw them together. The last one was Ninoy, and of course, he was murdered. 5. This is the one that bothers me the most, because if this country is ever to be built into a "nation united" it would have to start at this ground level. As a culture, Filipino people rarely help or work together with people outside of their family or social groups. They will also rarely give to those in need outside of those groups. Petty bickering, trying to "save face", haughty pride, and long standing disputes are very common among Filipino people. If this is the standard in the local community, how can it be expected that a nation can advance beyond theri differences? The second reason is that Filipinos put up with way to much incompetence. Incompetence from govt leaders, teachers(sorry but it is true), auto mechanics, doctors, etc,etc,etc...I am telling you unequivically, the Philippines will never be a 1st world nation until it holds people who they pay there money to, to a higher standard then what they do today. When someone does a bad job, or doesnt know how to do their job, or is in a position of leadership that they recieved as a result of a phone call from someone of influence to the hiring manager then it will never happen. Mediocrity breeds mediocrity. 1st world countrys are not mediocre, they are cutting edge. I know, I know, Filipinos dont like confrontation, they dont want to embaress someone who doesnt have a clue what their doing so that person doesnt lose face. Ok, that's fine. But, as long as saving face is more important then proper training and high standards, how can you really expect to leave 3rd world status. I wanted to say two other things to you. As you have probably already guessed i am a foreigner, from the USA(the truth is i am probably less fond of them then you are). I'm married to a pinay, with three daughters, and i live in Mindanao. If the Philippines was ever attacked by a foreign invader, i would not run to the airport to escape. I would run for my M4 and take aim. I choose to live in this country because i believe it is better then the USA, it has morals, and faith in God, and strong family ties. The other thing is i am as disgusted as you are by the way that light skinned Filipinos are glorified on TV. I am embarressed for a woman when i see her with all the white make up on her face, covering her natural skin. She does not realize how beutiful she is, and the advertising on TV promotes all these whitening products. I am lucky, my wife is brown skinned and wears no make up. Anyway, that is my take on things.
15 :
No I believe the Philippines should look to JAPAN!!! in terms of technology and Fashion!!! PS: couldn't read the whole thing...got crosseyed lol edit: lol..okay I read the whole thing this time... Hmm...sorry I know nothing of the Filipino history having grown up in Africa.. I think you know more than I do! hehe good for you!!.. Sorry can't express any opinions on that... One thing I too can't comprehend about Filipinos in the USA is why most of them can't speak their native language. I concluded that, there is either something wrong in the family (parents having no time to teach their children, parents thinking the language is degrading, parents thinking it will confuse them, etc etc) or the society. Clearly, there is NO proper Filipino community. I'm a Filipino who grew up in Nigeria (west Africa) but now I live in America. In the state where I lived in, Kano, there may not be as many Filipinos in that state as in Lagos (another state) but we've tried our best to keep in touch with one another. We often had pot-luck parties, bingo games, we celebrated someone's birthday, independence day, christmas, new years, etc! Although we all came from different parts of the Philippines, were practically strangers, we all tried to speak in Tagalog and welcome eachother. That is why, my dad, who is originally Bisaya can speak in Tagalog better than Bisaya. And all of these elder people I called "tito" (uncle) "tita" (aunt) even though clearly we weren't related in anyway! Anyways, what I'm trying to get at is that, America is just waaay too big! to get to a relative's house will take an hour...and everybody is just bc bc bc trying to get rich! Even though this may be the case, If these people (parents in particular) really care for their children's origin to be preserved and acknowledge, they should make this "Filipino community" that other Filipinos in other countries have. However, the problem may be with the Filipinos themselves. They may not want this "Filipino community". Some Filipinos when coming back to the Philippines, after just a few years in the US, would say "I've forgotten how to speak Tagalog" even though they clearly haven't! isn't that sad? I believe that if you want to make a change, it should always start from "the home". Actually, I do live with Filipino neighbours here. They're all NURSES! these women brought along with them their families..and as you'd expect after just a year, they speak english instead of "Bisaya" their native tongue(poor kids). I was also considering taking up this profession for the MONEY! I believe there is nothing wrong with going into the medical field, as long as you have real interest and a need to help others. But...i didn't so I'm switching to a different major! haha... So basically it's just people trying to provide for their families living in the Philippines! since it's in demand and all.. I believe the caregivers "CNA's" are the ones that are mostly held in high esteem. Well I don't know for others but it is for me. Having a mother working as a CNA, that job takes sooo much dedication, patience and understanding. Just imagine an old guy who doesn't want you touching him, suddenly bites you, pull your hair, hit you, waltz out of his room naked saying "get that crazy lunatic out of my room"!!! lol... My mom just laughs it off... And ofcourse there is that ethnic discrimination, they would always judge her flaws just because she's a Filipino, and undoubtedly hardworking and smarter (she's an A student! hehe) wouldn't you hold this career in high esteem if it were your own 50 yr. old mom doing it??? About Filipinos considering "white" or "pale" complexion as beautiful. lol... same thing as how Americans see "tanned" skin beautiful... up till now, I can't seem to accept it. haha... it's just people's "Standard of Beauty"...no matter how I deny it, I still would want to be pale skinned. I guess it's just people can not be happy or satisfied with what they have. Or perhaps it's because I've always been teased for being dark since my siblings are fair colored. Anyways, it's not only Filipinos. Go to Japan, China, Taiwan, etc. they would think the same! they're even famous for producing whitening products! If you can't understand this..just compare it to fake tanning lotion!..hehe I think you should have told that woman what you were supposed to. "then teach her!" lol... afterall, aren't we in America?? land of free speech haha! P.S: I just wanted to add that, when we were kids, me and my sisters would converse in english while playing (all the time)...We spoke english in school and Tagalog to our parents. So I don't believe that these kids who spent more years in the Philippines than I did should just entirely deny their own language! When I came back to the Philippines to study, me and my sis spoke Tagalog..(not taglish) okay maybe it's taglish because we would say some words in english because we didn't know how to say them in Tagalog. But we didn't use that "accent" that most pre-madonnas "maarte" girls use when speaking Taglish just to sound chic! okay that's disgusting, I'll stop now

Why is everyone still so determined to save the panda bears if China no longer has proper space for them

Why is everyone still so determined to save the panda bears if China no longer has proper space for them?
China and the USA spend millions of dollars annually to try to increase population statistics on the giant panda, because there are only an estimated thousand living in the wild and another 600 or so living in captivity. These governments have been spending millions annually since the 50s, when their population dropped due to the increased population of the Chinese people. Panda bears have a slow gestation period, and after birth the mother panda must nurse the baby for at least 1 year. Some mother pandas have even abandoned their offspring instead of caring for their newborn from birth, resulting in a complete waste of money and time on hopes for this panda to help increase their depleting population. The various types of bamboo, along with the quantities of bamboo pandas need to survive in the wild are no longer plentiful in China due to their people's overpopulation. Scientists such as Jared Diamond have stepped up to state what a waste of time and money these efforts are becoming. China is pretty much a wasteland right now with so much pollution and overpopulation that it would almost be cruel to release pandas back into the wild after living in zoos. Even the wildlife federation (WWF) agreed there isn't enough room in China for a population of panda bears large enough to exist in China to remove them from the endangered species list. So, why are millions of dollars spent annually by China and the USA to increase the population of an animal that we don't even have the room and resources available to keep alive if & when the population does ever increase? Please do some research into China's pollution problem. It may be the biggest country, but it is also highest in toxic pollution as well. Have you not seen the images of chinese people wearing face masks just so they can breath the air with a little less pollution entering their lungs? Even other countries have confronted China on their pollution problem, since their pollution becomes our pollution. Money for panda bears take away from other species also indangered but not as "cute & cuddly" as the giant panda. I'm well aware of the definition of extinction. I've never seen a woolley mammoth, saber toothed tiger or black wolf but I'm not losing sleep over it. Ever think that maybe the planet has it's own ways of natural selection? Perhaps the panda's time and purpose of this planet is about to end...and humans are standing in the way of nature doing what is best for this planet?

You are way over concerned with issues that are exaggerated by your mind. 1.) Millions of Dollars is almost nothing in the grand scheme of things, it only seems large to an individual. An example of something to be more concerned with is the F-22's we contracted be built cost 740 million a piece to put through production considering even our military would rather spend money on anything more useful, (chosen due to political vote mongering, not actual technical usefulness) that's nearly a billion per individual weapon that we don't have any true use for. 2.) China is F***ING HUGE, it is not a barren wasteland by any stretch of the imagination. They badly polluted around population centers due to their recent industrial revolution, too young to be properly controlled, but it is nowhere killing all the usable habitat in china. 3.) Know the implications of extinct, it means the animal is gone forever it will never be seen by anyone ever again. You can talk to your kids and they'll see it just like we see the dinosaurs or tasmanian wolf (to pick something more recent) it is just gone. But lastly, despite the costs in rearing panda's, and the fact that they will likely go extinct in the wild due to lack of timely enforced preventative measured, they still rake in more cash by drawing tourists and international attention by keeping them alive. That and by making an effort it is possible to at least prolong their wild existance, which is a far more worthy cause than war, yachts, cars and other common million/billion dollar endeavors. Sorry to sound like a rant, it's just that extinction is a terrible thing, especially to such a unique species. *additional edit* You gain more by choosing a species that requires large habitat area and is generally appealing to the public. The reason for this is the public is more willing to donate to panda's than those other "less cudly animals" but the byproduct of helping panda's is saving huge amounts of acreage from development, perhaps saving other indigenous species from habitat loss. This is common practice, and the majority of the pay does not come from any national government so it's not coming out of YOUR wallet anyway. The same deal happened with the california spotted owl people say "is it really worth it to save this one species of owl" Maybe, maybe not, but because it drew attention it saved a huge amount of the remaining california forest.
2 :
Because it is the right thing to do. Extinct means to be gone forever, never to be seen again. The Giant Panda attracts so many tourists annually to China that it is considered an asset to the Chinese Government to have them. People literally spends thousands upon thousands of dollars to go on explorations to see these amazing creatures in the wild. As far as the space issue with China YES it is very overpopulated and YES it is polluted but only parts of the country that has a high density of people is polluted and so on. So remember yes millions upon millions of dollars are spent to try to save these animals but its so that a 100 years from now your ancestors can see a panda with their own two eyes and not just know of the Giant Panda as a thing of the past.
3 :
With your attitude we may as well let every species on the planet go extinct as habitats are lacking worldwide. Do you understand that YES...extinction is natural but we (humans) have sped up the process to an alarming rate. We are skewing how the ecosystem works. We NEED to step in to save endangered wildlife and wildlife habitats because we are the the ones causing the endangerment and damage in the first place. Why don't we all just slit our throats now as we too will eventually run out of space, food, resources, water, air, etc. For someone who has named themselves "science is my religion"..it sounds like you know NOTHING about science.
4 :
To put things in perspective, millions of dollars can only hire you an NFL head coach for a single year, or pay the salary of a mediocre baseball player for a year. So, if the USA and China do not spend millions of dollars to save the panda, what good does that do? Further, we know that everybody is going to die someday. If so, then why spend tens of thousands of dollars per person educatiing, entertaining, housing and feeding human beings? These are all money down the drain, correct? Why not take all that money and give it to the filthy rich so they can buy a bigger mansion? There is no denying that China has a population problem and a pollution problem. But these problems should be taken care of regardless of whether the panda is in trouble or not. Pollution and panda conservation are totally separate subjects. The Chinese population should be given better education, because women who are better educated tend to have fewer children. Pollution can be cleaned up, and should be cleaned up. I see no reason why the panda conservation should end just because there is pollution and overpopulation. The panda is in trouble not because of low birth rate, something that is a red herring. They have managed to survive for millions of years with a low birth rate. Besides, their low reproductive rate in captivity is a product of captivity. Many animals, such as frogs, lay hundreds, even thousands of eggs in the wild, but they do not reproduce in captivity. Therefore it is captivity, and not the panda, that is responsible for their low reproductive rate in captivity. Some scientists may be rightfully pessimistic about the panda's future, but that is different than the silly campaign that some misguided people have been conducting to attack the giant panda and its conservation.

Is it even possible for health care to bankrupt us

Is it even possible for health care to bankrupt us?
When we spend money on health care, that money stays in the US doesn't it? All those doctors and nurses and so on, aren't they all employed right here in the US? It's not something that we could outsource to China. So if health care costs just kept skyrocketing out of control, doesn't that just mean the health care industry in the US is very successful? Explain both why and why not.

Population growth means more people will need to be covered, and premiums (monthly costs) keep rising artificially by insurance agencies. Medicare and Medicaid are very expensive for the federal government to maintain, which what the previous Obamacare bill attempted to rein in. But it didnt work, so he proposed a more modest bill. You can find it at http://www.whitehouse.gov/health-care-meeting
2 :
I don't see how it will help the economy if its supposedly better
3 :
lol...you do realize that it is doctors and lawyers that Obama is raising taxes on (the wealthy) as a way to get money for health care don't you?........and you think the doctors and hospitals won't raise their prices?..........think again.......it is a never ending increase in health care costs to the average person........
4 :
So some people get rich while others go bankrupt. That is what we have now. We need some serious reform, as most of us are tired of paying twice as much as other economically similar countries for equivalent benefits. By the way, economics is not a zero-sum game. The system could indeed collapse from money exchanging hands internally.
5 :
With our current health care model that pays for health care, we cannot sustain paying higher and higher premiums, get denied health care because we cost too much , get knocked off our plan for ridiculous reasons, all in the name of making more profit for the giants of health insurance. Their record quarterly profit is putting a face on the greed in Wall Street and the lack of care for people who need care, but can't afford the high prices.
6 :
Why don't you ask that question to my best friend who's child was diagnosed with cancer. He had a good job making $400,000 a year and health insurance. He went bankrupt in just 3 years.
7 :
Well considering the US currency is the unit other countries base their currency on. America will not actually go bankrupt. THey can simply print money and pay off the debts with a diluted $$$, that is my guess of what will happen just as soon as inflation hits the fan. And no to your answer, the health industry only profits around 3 to 4 %. Even as their rates go higher. SO the rate going up, does not mean they are making so much money.
8 :
No. But it will force doctors and hospitals to suck it up, so to speak.
9 :
Medicare and Medicaid are ALREADY bankrupting us.
10 :
Private health insurance cannot bankrupt us, but GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE CAN. Explanation----one can shop for private health insurance if this frigging administration would pass a bill to allow it which would create competition which will lower the premiums. This happens with EVERY COMMODITY. But if you have universal health care, there is NO COMPETITION and the government --thru taxes--have to pay all of the costs for EVERYONE, which would bankrupt this country. No country, this size, has ever had universal health care.Smaller countries are in serious financial state for this very reason
11 :
Health care is 15% of the GDP in the US economy compared to 10% GDP in the Canadian economy. From a purely economic perspective this shows an inefficient allocation of resources considering the US system insures 85% of the population while the Canadian system insures 100% of the population! Also considering that 60% of all bankruptcies filed in the US are due to inability to pay medical bills, it can't bankrupt everybody but how much of the population do you include when you say "us"?
12 :
Since 1974, Hawaii has required all employers to provide relatively generous health care benefits to any employee who works 20 hours a week or more. This is a state where regular milk sells for $8 a gallon, gasoline costs $3.60 a gallon and the median price of a home in 2008 was $624,000 — the second-highest in the nation. Despite this, Hawaii’s health insurance premiums are nearly tied with North Dakota for the lowest in the country, and Medicare costs per beneficiary are the nation’s lowest.

Have you tried to go to the website of the station the show airs on, click on the shows link & find the show you're wanting information on then it will take you to that shows website & you'll find updates there & also there will be full episodes available there online. I don't know if you can download but I know you can watch them there. I would think you could download too. , in addition you'll find spoilers, comings & goings, updates, air times & I think local stations, chat forums & bulletin boards, cast profiles, and there will be other links there too there is also tv.com as well Since that is so old you might try tvland.com as well.

China Beach was total fiction. There were not hospitals or medical units in Vietnam that even closely resmbled the situations on "China Beach" the TV show.

How is job demand for animators? What about salary?
I just applied for nursing and I was not accepted, now I am thinking about becoming animator which I loved when I started college. The reason that I did not attend to it was because I heard jobs are not so many and pay is not good, one more reason I heard that many animation jobs are being done in India and China for cheap prices.I live in the U.S.A,in Florida. Thanks in advance.

There is always a good demand for good animators. The salary will be based on your experience and your specialization. If you choose animation you should initially concentrate on your interest and passion and career growth not salary a main constraint.

What is Israel Had Just Let the Flotilla Ships Dock at Gaza

What is Israel Had Just Let the Flotilla Ships Dock at Gaza?
Would that not have been an abandonment of the concept of Israel defending its sovereign territory? Would that not have been allowing a precedent to be set that ships with uninspected cargoes can come to Gaza? What would the effect of allowing such ships to come be? Has anybody in Gaza ever launched any missile at any town in Israel? Was the missile and all of its parts manufactured in Gaza? Or did the missile get brought to Gaza from somewhere else? What would happen to the innocent civilians in Israel if the people of Gaza had an unlimited supply of missiles to launch into Israel? Here's a list of nations USA, Russia, China, France U.K. Germany ---- How many of these nations would allow ships with uninspected cargoes to come into their ports? How many of these nations would abandon their sovereignty? How many of these nations would put their citizens at risk of death, when they could avoid that? Come on now, speak up! You in the back --- would you say "yes"? Nobody?? OK then let's not criticise the Israelis. Let's not be total hypocrites. Ah, you want to criticize somebody -- OK how about the leader of Turkey, who is the turkey behind this huge piece of nonsense. He could have closed it down in a heartbeat. But he let it happen, now people are dead, and injured. The Israelis followed all the principles of military law. They used the minimum force. They did not open fire with live ammo until they were mobbed and beaten with metal bars and chairs in a life threatening manner. Two Israelis were very seriously injured in the fracas, before any Israelis opened fire with live ammo, which they had to ask permission before they could do. All of this is documented on tape. It is beyond dispute by any rational person. Turkey should be expelled from NATO and suspended as a client of the World Bank. It has done big mischief, and plans to do more -- it has two more ships it is planning to send -- I guess it imagines that Israel will decide to abandon its sovereignty and national security ---- no --- it does not imagine that ---- it just wants to cause mischief and loss of life --- the world should send Turkey a message. If they do send more ships, just sink them. War at sea is not beanbag. We can't indulge lunatics at sea. International waters are not a lunatic asylum, and Israeli Naval forces are not patient care nurses in a lunatic asylum. Next ship gets sunk -- the activists can paddle home, if they survive the sinking. Let's have one of those nations that I mentioned tell me that they would not defend their waters or ports, or that if they would, they would do it with more restraint, grace, mercy, class, and valor than the Israelis showed in this case. We all know that China and Russia would grease this sort of monkeys in a heartbeat, with hellfire missiles, turn them into instant sharkfood and be done with it. So, let's not be hypocritical. For LTM --- I concur with the analysis in the article you posted. Israel in my view acted with valor, courage, and mercy, but a little sloppy under the laws of war at sea. There should have been shots across the bow. At 60 miles out, this could have been done for half and hour with lots of loudhailer work, and flashbang grenades, and 5 inch shells, and 20 mm cannon. Isreal could have communicated with stark and harsh larity that the sea is not a lunatic asylum and that the Israeli Navy are not psychiatric nurses, and that the activists are not patients to be cared for in a special treatment facility. The idea of boarding with a small and not overwhealming contingent of commandos was a bit rash. The paintball guns were absurd. Never bluff. These guys had to ask for permission to lock and load. By the time they got it their situation was so desparate that people needed to be killed. Hamfisted, but valorous, hugely courageous, totally merciful, and with restraint beyond call of duty.

What is a blockade? Is that something like a row of foxholes or bunkers? Should a bunch of peacenik backpackers challege it?

The boaters were in International waters. It was murder

I agree with most of what you've posted but expelling Turkey from NATO is a HUGE step. I think that should be avoided. Let's face it we have very few allies anymore and Obama has whizzed on several of them. I heard Hillary today lambasting Israel as though she was talking to Iran and it made me realize this current administration really doesn't have a clue what it means to be an ALLY. We can't be on both sides. There are times when we have to ignore the critics and stand by our allies come hell or high water. It looks like Turkey's leader is banking on a weak U.S. administration. http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.php?n=turkey-launches-a-long-time-diplomatic-war-against-israel-2010-06-01 edit..Woah have you seen this? "ISRAEL CONCERNED TURK NAVY WITH NEXT FLOTILLA" - from Drudge "Dozens of passengers who were aboard the Mavi Marmara Turkish passenger ship are suspected of having connections with global jihad-affiliated terrorist organizations, defense officials said on Tuesday, amid growing concerns that Turkish warships would accompany a future flotilla to the Gaza Strip. http://www.jpost.com/Israel/Article.aspx?id=177169

Don't buy into the propaganda by Muslin's. The "humanitarian" ship was provocative and caused the problem by not respecting the blockade. If a enemy Iranian ship sailed into New York harbor and we demanded to inspect the cargo (suspecting weapons), and they fought us. Our response would have been the same or worse. Would you worry what the "world" thought...I think you get the point.

There is no argument...........Israelis can try to damage control as much as they like but every human on earth has a choice to follow evil or distance itself from it. Orthodox Jews who were in anti-Israeli protest worldwide yesterday have taken a solid stand. They are the real Jews who have not been hijacked by Zionism, a terror driven religion of death and destruction. Most of all Deceit. Zionism has deceived Jews to turn into greedy, blood thirsty satanic like beasts. They get Settlement Land and Money in exchange for their souls.....they laugh at human suffering and try so hard to defend terrorism. The sickest part is that they TRULY believe what they stand for is right because they have sold their souls. FREE PALESTINE

I have no problem with the manor in which Israel handled the situation, except they were too lenient. My problem here is that the US is doing exactly what you suggest. Un inspected ships & cargo. Navigation systems in Chinese not English. Surrendering Her sovereignty & sending citizens/ border Patrol/ Regular Army in Iraq & Korea into battle without bullets in their guns until fired upon. Rules of order must change NOW! regaining some sense of sanity.

The problem is with zionists is that they think they are greater than others and GOD gave them license to do every thing. This makes situation worse.

The palestinians are not having an easy life. I dont even know why israel exists. As far as im concerned you leave you country for 2000 years dont get the hump when you go back there and complain that someone else is there. This is just as bad as the way the south african whites treating the native people there. Its a shame the israelis have pretty much started to resemble the people that tried to wipe them out in the 1940's. Tends to happen with bullies, you find out theyve been bullied themselves. It dosent help that the arab people of that area are not very level headed, and make angry rash decisions and can never seem to agree on any sort of comprimise. I have met a lot of israelis on my travels and they are without doubt the most unpleasant people ive ever encountrered, arrogant beyond belief and off their heads on any drugs they can get hold of. Ive heard that the IDF is basically just spring break with assault rifles anyway. 'How many of these nations would abondon their soverignt'? well its a totally seperate issue but much of europe is doing that, its called the EU. 'How many of these nations would put their citizens at risk of death, when they could avoid that?' Britain was told by the eu court of human rights that we could not deport 2 terror suspects back to pakistan because of the treatment they would recieve there, thus putting our own people at risk. (seperate issue but im answering the question) Israel just seems to do what it wants, what about the whole thing with the government stealing british passports, this wasnt some shady criminal group doing this, it was the israeli government, and using those passports to assasinate that hamas guy in dubai. As far as im concerned israel as bad news, and anyone from the usa cannot give me a thumbs down as pro-israel propoganda has been pumped through US society since the late 1940's.

To be honest with you, I have no idea why the Israeli government still talks to the Arab-fearing U.S. government. Every Presidential Administration from Richard Nixon to Barack Obama has lived in fear of another OPEC oil restriction, like we faced in 1973, which led to gasoline shortages and high gas prices. As a result, since 1973, every Presidential administration has tried to persuade Israel not to defend herself from any Arab-nation who wishes to wreak havoc and destruction in Israel. The U.S. government is so afraid of gasoline reaching $500.00 per barrel, that they openly criticize Israel each and every time Israel retaliates against Hamas, Hezbola, Fatah, or any other radical Islamic group that tries to harm Israel.

Israel attacked an unarmed boat (in international waters) that was trying to get through an illegal blockade...... Israel then killed 10 people, blocked communications from/to the boat and then dragged boat into an Israeli port. Israel kidnaps passengers off the high seas, manhandles them, jails journalists whose only crime is covering a story. And then Israel claims Self-Defense?! Israel had no problem running a UN arms embargo on apartheid South Africa. In fact Israel was racist South Africa's most important ally selling them whatever military/torture equipment that they wanted. How many kidnapping/murders on foreign soil does this make for Israel?

Which major should I pick- Internationl Studies or Registered Nursing

Which major should I pick- Internationl Studies or Registered Nursing?
I've been interested in east Asia for years. It started in 8th grade and progressed over the years into the music, culture, movies, fashion, etc of Japan, China, and South Korea. I am now 18 going on 19 so it's been a while and it isn't just a fleeting thing. Since I was a child I've wanted to be a nurse. Even now I enjoy cleaning/dressing wounds. I wonder if I want to major in International Studies with a minor in Asian Studies. I want to teach English in Asia for a 1+ years after I get my Bachelor's (the degree can be any subject). Then I'd like to maybe get my Master's and teach Asian history/culture at the uni level here in America. If I became a RN, would that 1+ years away affect my remembrance/skills as a nurse? Would I have to do self-study during that time? I'd like to travel, how is vacation time for RNs? What is the market for a prof. of Asian studies here? Does it depend on where you live? Also, what other careers would a Intl. Studies major be good for?

RN. You will never be without work, anywhere in the US. International studies would be a major that would be very "location" limited. It prob wouldn't get you a teaching job in the US, but I suppose I could be wrong. If you are bilingual You'd prob have a better chance.

registered nurse...all the way! u have no idea how much it will pay off i am only a sophmore in high school but i am doing rop medical assisting classes so i can become a rn. the benifits are incredible..job opertunities are only going to increase, and the salary pays better than most jobs. aslo u get the fufullment of helping others !!
3 :
Start with taking a little bit of both. Take the intro classes for bio or chemistry and the intro classes for a language. If you think that you are more cut out for one or the other, than stick with that one. If you feel comfortable in both, you might wan to go for nursing, and then get either a double major or minor in a language. You would be much more marketable if you were a nurse who could speak to Asian immigrants. You could also work with doctors without borders, or the Red Cross in Asia. Rural China is in desperate need for well-trained medical staff, so you would definitely be an asset.

Are there any wet nurse agencies

Are there any wet nurse agencies?
I would love to become a wet nurse. I heard there is a UK agency but I can't find it. Any ideas? I know agencies are pretty common in America and China but wet-nursing is only just becoming popular again in the UK so not many agencies. I really enjoy the relationship with the child and feel it important to give children tht don't normally have the opportunity the benefits of breast milk. If anyone has done it and knows where to advertise or better yet agencies to join please let me know. Many thanks

I did not know that was done anymore, its not common in the US. I do not think that it is becoming popular. There are too many health risks involved. I think you are misinformed.
2 :
It's not really common in the US. In fact, there's really only one agency of any size in the US that provides wetnurses. You might have an easier time getting UK-specific answers, with answers.yahoo.co.uk, or asking on the local tribal area subforum on the mothering.com discussion boards.
